When Demons Awake

Alright, I missed out the time ones again. The first thing to say is that we began 9:45 outside campus which means that it was to go up at 7:30. I hate early mornings (of course I used to go up 7 and then be at the library at 8 in Sweden but that was 4 months ago). Arrive at Farragut North and then try to find the meeting place. I hate the system this city is build upon. I went forward and backward for 30 minutes and even went round one block until I meet someone from my class that had a little bit better knowledge on where we were supposed to go.

We finally gets there. Apparently the building hosts the embassy of the Democratic Republic of Congo and I began talking about the other Congo and my guide tells me that there is only one Congo. And I say there is two. You probably understand that this got the worst of me and me dropping comments like that I don't think very highly of the geography lessons here (very bad choice of words, I get kinda aggressive while debating something that I belie is right and someones questioning me). It continues until the professor show up and I make a quick question and can rub it in his face that he was wron and I was right. I like to gloat and you know that. Anyway, we did meet the former ambassador of Afghanistan and he was talking about intressting things but most people were kinda tired (the German girl nodded her heada couple of times and because I couldn't do anything so I waited for her to drop the head on the table).

After that some of us continued to a sandwich place for lunch and sat there for an hour or o. As I mentiond before, I'm a member of WASSA so I got my picture outside the cafeteria. This has made everyone that I know ask how sis I end up there so I usally tell them that I ended up their by accident and then felt commited to the case. After this we continued to the White House after teahing the guy from Texas what the White House is in other languishes (Swedish, French and Spanish). We end up outside it were there is this protester living in a tent for 27 years speaking for nuclear disarmanent and such. Of course the ´republican had to go forward and state that he liked nuclear weapons. The rest of us stand a bit away. The discussion grows until he passes by us saying that she has five theeth over and over again. We just crossed the street in embarassment (I know you ead this so don't take it personaly, nothing is completly truthfull in telling things) pretending we didn't know him.

We end up by the Old Executinve Building thats just by the side of the White House and oppposite of the street the house where the Afghan president was at a state visit. We pass thru security and the Americans are assigned a white pass for large events and all the International students recieve a red on saying they got an appointment. Everyone but me who was assigned a white one. That made me fell very special. The funny thing is he looked at my passport at the visa that clearly states that it was issued in Stockholm but none the less. The others International student where kinda jealous (this prove the benefit of being neutral for 200 years:). The one we meet there was someone from the National Security Council and after that (intressting as it was no one reads about it) we went down to the stairs toward the White House (unfortunatly no sign of the President and as stated before I would still take a picture with me shaking his hand despite the fact I dislike him and his policies) and then out again. I weren't able to keep my pass. It would have made a great souvenir.

Back at the Campus and I eat something green and a delisous chochlate cake with wipped cream. It was like entering heaven. Ate together with Lars, Yuki and the RA Emily. Afterwards I went back to Capital and meet Ida and Rachel (who was one of the people that I made this half promise of eating together with at Thursday) and we talked about Swedish winter equipment (pulka, spark, släde osv). Afterwards they got some more girls and went to eat again and I followed as a social person were able to get in at the cafeteria without swiping again. There I meet the birthday party from the other night. Apperently she had a good time cause she haden't felt very well when waking up this morning (she was supposed to drink for us who weren't allowed to). After sitting their for another hour they began closing down the place so me and one of the girls went onward to the WASSA preparations for the presidential debate that did happen after all this jay and nay from McCain.

More people showed up than I thought actually so that was kinda surprising. Met the professor again and many other who came to watch and a news camera teamfilming everyone during the debate. No need telling who I support. Afterwards it was cleaning and then watching the after debate in Capital lounge. Intresting to hear all thoughts (a few Americans, the rest was Norwegians and Swedes) and then we actually saw ourselves from the debate at the tv for 5 seconds. Very fun and now its 14 minutes and 55 seconds left of my 15 minutes of fame.
